NORTH COTTESLOE PRIMARY SCHOOL

North Cottesloe Primary School

Our specialist Physical Education teachers provide all students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 with one hour of weekly lessons, with an additional hour of organised sport for students in Years 4 to 6. Students in the early years develop a variety of fundamental movement skills, before applying these skills in invasion, net, and striking and fielding games as they move into the later years of primary school.

Throughout the year, all students in Year 1 to 6 participate in our School’s major sporting events; Swimming Carnival in Term 1, Cross Country Carnival in Term 2 and the Athletics Carnival in Term 3. Year 4 to 6 students also participate in a Winter Lightning Carnival where we compete against other local schools in AFL football, hockey, netball and soccer.

The winter sports which include netball, hockey, football, soccer and basketball are club sports. We have volunteer parent representatives that co-ordinate the teams for each sport.

Edu-Dance is a creative hip-hop dance program which provides children with the opportunity to be part of a fun and energetic dance program. The program fulfils the Physical and Health outcome requirements (Dance element) for students, and covers many other aspects such as coordination, musical appreciation and self-confidence, and gives many children the opportunity to experience the excitement of performing in front of an audience. Most importantly it is promoted as a program for fitness and fun. Edu-Dance is provided for all children K-6.

We have three school factions which are based on our amazing rivers around Perth; Avon (blue), Canning (yellow) and Swan (white).
